Your special blanket is called a Kantha quilt, made by loving hands in India. This Kantha quilt is made of six layers of vintage cotton sari, sometimes over 100 years old. The cotton throws come from west Bangal and are made with patches of Calcutta traditional sari. The throw is reversible so it looks beautiful from both sides. Each blanket is one of a kind.
Any variations or irregularities are part of authentic, handmade nature of artisan work. Note that there may be minor stains or marks due to the age of the material, but does not detract from the beauty of the piece.
Dry clean, or machine wash (do not tumble dry).

Why We Love It
We love that these throw blankets bring the vibrancy of India into your home. The quilt looks chic folded at the foot of the bed, draped over a neutral sofa or chair, or even used as a wall hanging to stand in for a headboard. We also love how it looks as a table topper, on its own or layered on top of a neutral tablecloth.
The artists creating the kantha quilts are all talented, low-income artisans who are paid a livable wage and have safe working conditions, access to healthcare and childcare, and on-going training and education. This holistic approach means relationships with many of these groups for over a decade – during that time many artisans have lifted themselves out of poverty and even launched their own successful businesses, strengthening the entire community.
