Kick back in a lightweight cotton robe from Aravali, in Jaipur, India. Block printing is a labor-intensive method of hand-printing fabric. The artisans imprint the cloth with a wooden block featuring a hand carved design. The printer moves from left to right, dipping the design block into the dye and stamping it onto the cloth. This is repeated to cover the entire cloth with the intended design and colors. Each block has a guide or registration point to match both designs and colors.

Why We Love It

This robe is the definition of casual, relaxed luxury.  The cotton is lightweight and breathable, perfect for layering over your pajamas.  We love to curl up in it on the couch, with the dog on one side and a stack of shelter magazines on the other while we drink our Sunday morning coffee.

The Story

Your cotton robe was made by a skilled artisan in the Aravali cooperative in Jaipur, India. Block printing is a labor-intensive method of hand-printing fabric, Your robe has been through many steps, beginning with being soaked in water and dried on river stones.  The artisans imprint the cloth with a wooden block featuring a hand carved design. The printer moves from left to right, dipping the design block into the dye and stamping it onto the cloth. This is repeated to cover the entire cloth with the intended design and colors.
